Ever since the war, it became almost impossible for her to get the amount of sleep she needed to function properly. Lately, she's been falling asleep in class and it's been very apparent to anyone that pays any attention to her by the bags under her eyes that she's completely worn out. On one of the dreadful nights of the war, Hayley's parents were murdered by death eaters right in front of her eyes. It happened so quickly and she had no time to even do anything about it. Of course, the only possible thing to do after seeing it was flee. It wouldn't do her, or anyone that cared about her, any good to let herself die too. She had been very lucky to make it out alive, because she was close enough to the death eaters that they could quickly kill her with a single spell. However, there were times where the Hufflepuff wished she had went down with her parents. It would save her the guilt of knowing she did nothing as her parents died. No matter how many times her siblings had told her it wasn't her fault, and there was nothing she could do, she still hadn't forgiven herself. Finally opening her eyes, Hayley turned onto her back and locked her eyes onto the ceiling above her. As quick as she did that, images of that night rushed into her thoughts. She could see her parents and the foul killers. She could hear their screams and the pain they felt as they went down. Sitting up immediately, one of her hands reached up and landed on her chest where it was tightening with the racing of her heart. The tears started to swell up and flow out of her lids as her breathing picked up slightly. No matter how hard she tried to shake them, she couldn't get the sounds and images out of her mind. She needed to force them out, but how? She needed help. She needed her friend. There was only one student, who happened to be her best friend, that knew what was going on with her. He had been her friend since childhood and their parents had been good friends as well, so when they were murdered, it was decided by her siblings and his parents to have her live there. Hayley was thankful for Addison. He seemed to be the only one she could find comfort in, because he had always been there for her and he always knew what to say. Scrambling out of bed, she rushed out of the girl's dormitories as quick as she could without making any sound. She didn't want to wake any of the girls, but at the same time, she wanted to get out before she actually broke down. As soon as she was out of the room and heading down the stairs, the sobbing started. As the tears fogged her eyes, she had to slow her pace down the stairs so she didn't cause herself to fall. That would be a tragedy in itself. She didn't want to bring any attention to herself, which would be exactly what would happen if she suddenly tumbled down the stairs. Stopping for a moment, she tried to regain her composure before continuing on, her back now leaning up against the stair wall. She surely couldn't go into the boy's dormitories sobbing like she was. Just like she didn't want to wake any of the girls, she didn't want to wake any of the boys. The only boy she was willing to wake up was Addison, even though part of her felt bad for even thinking of interrupting his sleep. Especially since she knew what it was like to not get enough sleep. If she woke him, he might not be able to get back to sleep for the rest of the night. That could hinder him in classes tomorrow, and she definitely didn't want that. Still, she needed someone to comfort her and bring her peace. She wanted to hear his voice telling her that everything would be alright, because she was sure that would be the only thing to help. Was it selfish of her to go to him? He knew her problems, and he knew that right now she was having issues with what had happened, so he would understand, right? She sure hoped so, because she needed him right now; desperately. Wiping at her eyes, she tried to clear her vision enough to start toward the boy's dorms again. Now, heading up to where her best friend slept, she continued to swish falling tears from her eyes before they could actually leave her lids. Once she reached the top, she took a deep breath and then entered. For a moment, she lingered in the doorway, looking around to make sure everyone was asleep. She then let her brown eyes find her sleeping friend before deciding she needed to do this quickly before anyone noticed her. Moving silently over to his bed, she dropped slowly to her knees next to him and reached a hand up to place it on his arm. "Addi?" She whispered, shaking his arm lightly. In her mind she was dreading the fact that it might take a lot to wake him. That would be horrible, considering the circumstances. Hopefully though, he would be easy to wake. "Addi, please wake up. I need you. I can't sleep." Choking up at the end of her sentence, her hand retracted from him to cover her mouth, her eyes once again scanning the room, hoping she hadn't woken anyone by her sudden sound. No one could know that she was kneeling there by his bed as upset as she was. It would raise too many questions that she wasn't ready to talk to anyone about yet. She was only comfortable with the Sinclairs knowing how broken the war had left her. notes // hope it's alright that i went ahead and started a thread for them.. i had the muse haha |
