Spare time was rare a thing these days. With the Dark Lord defeated and the Ministry working to pick up the pieces - the young auror had been made to work longer hours than usual. Damien did not mind it much, yet regretted not having as much time to spend on his hobbies as he used to. He regretted not being able to spend as much time with his dear Maddi. For years he had labored behind his usual desk on the Ministry's second levels - yet such long weeks were uncommon. It proved bearable and he did it without any complaining, be would simply have to bide his time. The problem would not persist, for soon the mess handed to their humble office would be cleaned up - well it would seem as such. Many managed to rout successfully in the final moments of the Battle of Hogwarts - and he had heard telltales of the Death Eaters regrouping. He did not doubt it, they were a persistent lot.
The conservatory was a very well lit part of their shared residence. Light fell into the room through its many windows. It was somewhat sparsely furnished - as lot of room having been taken up by several flower pots. Glass doors provided entry, the ones connecting to the house's interior having been opened. Delicately did he drag the brush across the canvas - Damien was cautious, for one mistake might just mean one had to start over completely. Art had just as much been a favorite pastime of his as it had been a favored hobby of Maddi's. Eyeing the painting, he concluded it was abstract as ever. Weird shapes and colors, yet with a charm all its own. Damien had never been excellent at drawing nor had he been a meticulous visionary - preferring instead to take up the bush and see how it turned out.
Continuing his work, he added another brushstroke to the canvas with utmost concentration. The auror had at times tended to devote his full attention to what he was doing - disregarding the background entirely. Such was the moment that a woman could dangle her assets in front of him without Damien ever noticing.

[atrb=width,400] do you hear that love? they're playing our song Home was where the heart is. That's exactly how Maddeline felt. She was a professor at Hogwarts and loved to be there with her friends and students, but there was nothing like being home with her husband. During the war, Maddi was left to stay at home alone, waiting it out due to her husband's wishes. The whole time she worried about those close to her as well as him. This also made her feel terrible for not helping at all. So, once it was over, a lot of her time was spent helping to clean up the mess, leaving her with little time to be home. And then, school started up again, so she had to worry about her duties as a professor as well as any left over issues within Hogwarts. She knew that Damien wasn't home much either though, seeing as he was an auror and needed to spend time helping the ministry. However, it put a weight on Maddeline's heart to be away from him for so long.
Hoping to find her husband there, Maddi returned home for the rest of the day. She had no more classes to tend to and she wanted a break. She wanted to see him. After apparating within the walls of her own home, she ventured from room to room, seeing if he was anywhere to be found. Last, she checked the conservatory where countless times she had sat and painted or tended to the plants. Sometimes, she even liked to sit in there and watch her husband paint, as they had the same hobby. While the paintings she accomplished were much more thought out and planned, her husband liked to just pick up the brush and paint to see where it went. Most of his were abstract, but she still enjoyed them, finding them to be just as artistic as any thing else.
Standing in the doorway, her eyes caught sight of her love and instantly a smile played on her lips. To see him sitting there, made her ecstatic, because that meant they would at least have a little time together, before they both had to return to work. Leaning against the doorway, she watched him for a moment, wondering if she should disturb him or not. She didn't want to bother him, but at the same time, she really wanted to spend time with him, since they've had so little time together in the past couple of months. Deciding that he probably wouldn't mind, Maddeline walked to Damien, stopping just behind him. Gently she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned her head close to his. "Hello love." She whispered before pressing light kisses to his skin, starting on his ear, then trailing down to his neck. tag: damien<3 word count: 461 notes: i'm going to luffs them. anyway, sorry if it's complete crap. |

Nothing on George's green Earth was dearer to Damien then his lovely wife. He loved her so much, that he had made sure to keep her at home during the war. For knowing that they might end up on opposite sides, made him feel sick to his very stomach. Their disagreement was unapparent, the subject having never even been discussed between them. It was a blissful truce - one he sought to keep for just a while longer. He knew he would not be able to hide certain bits of himself from her for much longer. Yet he still had some measure of time, and he sought to use it effectively. There were some differences between the two - small as they were. Yet he had faith in the fact that they were meant to be together. It was fate, not chance that had destined them for one another. They would overcome these differences, by virtue of their love.
The aftermath of the Second Wizarding War had left Great Britain in a state of absolute disarray. Many Death Eaters had fled the scene as their great leader was dispatched by courtesy of his own arrogance. The people justly dreaded the very idea of those who served he-who-must-not-be-named still being out and about. While there were no random arrests, the occasional failure was not uncommon. Yet they had been used effectively, with Damien utilizing them to fill the empty cells left by those he had somehow exonerated from any wrongdoing. At a certain point in time, he had even faced his closest of comrades across the table. He had made sure to come off a bit harsh - a badass instead of the friendly young auror many took him for. Many thought he had lost family members in the war, and pitied him. Only a very few at the office took him for a liar, and there was as little evidence as there were people support its well hidden truths.
Hearing his wife's all too familiar voice, he enjoyed the moment. It hadn't been long, as the clock had show, yet every moment he had to spend without her seemed like an eternity in its own right. Rising to meet the blonde's lovely blue eyes, he brought his own lips to hers in an extended gesture. "It has been too long, my beloved." - Damien whispered into the witch's ears as he held her for a moment.

[atrb=width,400] do you hear that love? they're playing our song To be away from her husband for so long, was one of the hardest things Maddeline had to grow accustomed to. When they had first gotten together in their younger years, they pretty much saw each other every day. That was due to certain classes and the effort they both put into the relationship. Even the difference in house and year couldn't keep them apart. It was like that for years too, even after he graduated. Of course, then they couldn't see each other every day, but they definitely tried to see one another when they could. Then after they got married, it was their jobs that kept them apart for the most amount of time. Even though they were married, they had other responsibilities to worry about. She had her teaching position at Hogwarts and he was an auror at the Ministry. The length of separation took Maddi a very long time to adjust to, and even now it weighs a heaviness on her heart that she almost couldn't bear.
As her handsome husband turned to face her, she looked into his eyes - the same dark, but gentle, eyes that she had known for thirteen years now. His lips falling over hers sent a rush of not only love but excitement throughout her. It was a feeling that no other man could even come close to achieving. He had been her husband for seven years, and her love for thirteen. No one could compare to a man like him, even if they tried their hardest. Even if a man walked up to her and promised her the world, she would not take it, because she had her world and that was Damien. If he were to die, or just up and leave her, that very same world would come crashing down, and it might just bring her with it. Just the thought of losing him was unbearable, because she loved her husband so. Smiling at the sound of his voice, she wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in the crook of his neck, letting him hold her for a moment. "It truly has been, hasn't it?" She whispered softly, now pulling her head back slightly so that she could look at him again. "How has work been? Are you doing alright?"
Turning her head to the side, Maddeline placed it against his chest as she observed his painting once again. A smirk played at her lips as an idea entered her thoughts. The moment was serious, seeing as they hadn't seen each other in a bit, but why not make it light? She wanted to be upbeat and having fun, so why not create that type of atmosphere now? Reaching her hand out, she dipped her finger in a bit of the paint and drew her head back from his chest to meet his eyes. "I believe you forgot something, my dear." She said, before tapping her finger on his nose to place the wet paint there. A light laugh escaped her lips as she watched his features, waiting for his response to her disturbance of his face. tag: damien<3 word count: 523 notes: hope it's alright. sorry again for the wait. |

Every minute they spent apart was one too many, a fact he saw fit to remind her off whenever he had the chance to do so. "It has been." Damien whispered into his wife's ears. The two were inseparable, like the two opposite ends of a magnet. Such gargantuan yet secret differences existed between him and the love of his life, yet they were pulled toward one another. "Not quite as satisfactory as it should have been. The bad guys play a tough game" He noted, with regards to his day. "You know how it is. Criminals are like children, they've simply refused to grow up." Damien remarked with contempt. Some of the files that came past his death did not belong to warriors fighting for a righteous cause.
They belonged to murderers, rapists and petty thieves. He had no issues with cutting Death Eaters loose - he did have grand issues with letting go of those that had committed crimes and felonies of great severity with little cause to do so. These were the people he chased, and he chased them piously. "You've made my day, however." He added, his blue eyes locking with hers for a moment as he held her close.
"How's life on your end of the world?" Damien questioned with genuine interest. They had been together for twelve years, an astounding feat in its own right, and he would not trade the woman of his dreams for anything in the whole world. Truly, the entire idea would be folly. It would be a waste of time. He had heard of friends who periodically recycled their lovers, but to Damien this was scandalous, if not touching on outright heresy. Life was about companionship, and they would all turn to grumpy old men before long. Of this he was sure. It was punishment, really, for their disrespectful lifestyles. Noticing the swatch of paint on his nose, he smiled widely. "Did I now?" He retorted, bringing his own nose to hers. "You got something... there." Damien stated before kissing her.

[atrb=width,400] do you hear that love? they're playing our song Having her husband's words whispered into her ear sent shivers down her spine. After all their years together, he was still able to do that to her, and she loved it. Never had Damien been a bore to her and he never would be. He was an excitement and she would always have interest in him. He was the love of her life, and he had always been an interest of hers. Ever since year two of Hogwarts, she had her eye on the very same man standing before her and she won his heart, much to her pleasure. She didn't think he would ever be hers when she was that young, but that had proved to be untrue as one could see because they were together, and had been for so long. How she had captured his very interest, she was unsure of, but she was glad she had. At first, he had been just a crush to her; someone she thought would never like her back because she was not only a year younger, but a Hufflepuff at that. He was a Slytherin, so liking her was kind of weird in their time. However, they ended up together and stayed strong throughout their time at Hogwarts, no matter what anyone said or did.
Trying to keep her smile, even though she didn't like the fact they were having issues with the 'bad guys', she pulled herself from him and placed her hands in his to keep some sort of connection. "If only they would just turn themselves in. Life would be much simpler that way." She said, sighing jokingly. "Then I could have my husband home a lot more." Maddeline wished she could have more time with Damien. However, even if he had less time in the office, that didn't mean she would. It wasn't something to keep thinking about though, because it probably would never happen. There was too much going on and it would be that way for a long time. "Sadly though, life would be quite boring if it was so easy. Don't you think?" Pulling herself close to him again, she let go of his hands and wrapped her arms around his neck, folding one on top of the other. "By the way, I'm glad I made your day. You have definitely made mine as well." She answered softly before pressing a light kiss to his lips.
Hearing his question, she thought on it for a moment before actually answering. "Well, it's been pretty decent I guess. I really can't complain. But, it's hard to see some of the students so upset over those they have lost. I wish there was something I could do." Slowly, her smile faded as she thought about the many students she watched the past few days, moping around and throwing fits. Some even showed signs of post traumatic stress disorder. It wasn't something she enjoyed watching, but who would? It truly was sad how one event could turn someone's life upside down. She was lucky she didn't have to go through it personally. Her husband was still very much alive and her family was just as well. She couldn't complain about anything except the fact that she felt heartbroken for the kids.
His nose pressing up against hers, returned her smile to her lips before he kissed her again. Instinctively, she kissed him back, forgetting almost instantly about what was just bothering her. It was amazing how one person could just stop her train of thought. Dangerous was what it probably was, but at the time, she was happy for the distraction. "I believe you should help me get that off, if you would be so kind." She teased between kisses. "Unless you're not feeling too generous today. But in that case, I might have to be mean, and I don't like to be mean." A chuckle escaped her occupied lips as she continued to kiss her love. The ironic part of her statement was the fact that she didn't have a mean bone in her body. Maddi didn't know how to be mean to someone, especially her husband. She loved him too much to treat him any less than right. tag: damien<3 word count: 703 notes: hope it's alright. sorry again for the wait. |
