THE PERSONALITY
First and foremost, Benjamin Wakefield is nearly two people: there's the fun guy who's always laughing when hanging around his tight-knit circle of friends, and then there is the more closed off, secluded Ben who has a very dark secret. Ben's most notable personality trait is his goofiness. He is definitely a class clown and a bit of a prankster as well. He's not one for dwelling on the bad, as he has too much of it in his life, and is always looking for the brighter side of things. Ben dislikes guys who treat girls badly, and is often getting himself into trouble for standing up for an underdog. That's not to say he hasn't done his own share of bullying from time to time, his targets simply happen to be the crueler portion of the student population.
Benjamin is actually rather secretive, with a few skeletons he never wants out of the closet, despite what most perceive him as. His father is an abusive man, who flies into unpredictable rages. He beats Ben, his mother, and his sister Julia frequently. Ben spends most of his time locked away in his room - or with Julia - while their mother drinks herself away. Ben doesn't want other people's pity or judgment and so he keeps this secret locked tightly away, and his bruises and broken bones well covered. From him, Hogwarts is an escape from a hell, a get away that is fast about to close to him. Because of this, Ben safe guards himself by being a bit of a loner, when not with his best friend Danny and a few other close confidants.
Music has always been a world where Ben is free. He finds himself constantly creating something new and never comes to Hogwarts without at least a guitar or two. He has occasionally been bullied by the purebloods and even a few half-bloods who find his taste in music anywhere from eccentric to terrible. Ben however does not judge another's musical preference, as he is all too aware of what just a few simple notes can mean to another person. He is often private with his music as well, spending time in quiet or emptied rooms, strumming away on a favorite guitar. Although he is more closed off about his artistic talents, Ben is more than willing to teach others who want to learn and to share what he has created with those he feels safe with.
